There’s a ton of helpful developers that can point you in the right direction. My recommendation is to take a simple plugin as an example, and work your way backwards from there :)

Great tutorial, really helped a lot.

The only thing I would point out is that these days NodeBB has a Minimum Requirement on the Redis Version (I think it ended up being 2.6?), which isn’t the one that installs by default (Same as the Node problem, really).

very short and easy. but i have jet no idee. as i can write nen plugin thats wird into db…and extent this object from thred with a user.
I want that you can ask a question post in the start and each user can respond to it, this we can then show who does everything for what again.

Thanks for the instructions. When I run the setup, I get the following warnings:

Is this something I need to worry about?

what’s the right way to setup permissions, Say you’re on linux (ubuntu12), running nginx 1.4 with redis
i’ve got:
drwxr-xr-x 5 www-data www-data 4096 Feb 20 17:50 mysite.com
drwxr-xr-x 2 www-data www-data 4096 Feb 20 17:49 forums.mysite.com

where ‘www-data’ is the nginx user, and a my current user is ‘admin’ which can sudo btw.

To setup NodeBB in forums.mysite.com, I will need to sudo to do anything, from git clone to running any command in there, should `admin` own that directory? or is it just better to place the NodeBB dir in admin’s home?

What is your conventional way of doing that? I still want to be able to setup `supervisor` to start on boot too.
